The primary mission of the Chillicothe Fire Department is to protect and enhance the quality of life of the citizens of Chillicothe and Livingston County. This is done using comprehensive programs of service which are directed toward public education, prevention and control of fire, rescue, hazardous material mitigation and the answering of calls regarding emergency medical situations.

As part of this mission, we wish to help any in the community who cannot obtain smoke detectors by their own means. This may include, but is not limited to, any senior citizens; limited income individuals; and persons exhibiting any form of disability.

If you feel you need a smoke detector and are unable to obtain, one please contact the fire department using the information below.

Carbon Monoxide Detectors
The Retired Teachers Association recently purchased carbon monoxide detectors. In May of 2017, they teamed with Chillicothe Fire Department to install the detectors. If you are a senior and in need of a CO detector, contact the fire department at 660-646-2139. These will be placed at no charge thanks to the generous donation of local retired educators.
