City officials and firefighters broke ground Tuesday,
May 6, 2014, for a $400,000 firefighting training tower in southwest Chillicothe.
The facility will be constructed at 1301 Green Street on land provided by
Chillicothe Municipal Utilities. Additional funding for the project is being
made available by local foundations. The training facility will be 3,840 square-feet and will be shared with
Grand River Technical School in an effort to enhance the current programs at
the school and also bring in good young recruits to help the fire department maintain adequate staffing.
